MG Winsdor EV vs Tata Nexon EV: Price, Features & Specification Comparison

Mumbai, September 22: MG Motor India recently expanded its EV portfolio with Windsor EV introduced in the country. The Windsor EV is the Chinese-owned British carmaker’s third EV product for the Indian market after the ZS EV and Comet EV. With prices starting at INR 13.49 lakh (ex-showroom), this price point does not include the cost of a battery, as the same is offered on a subscription basis for a minimum cost of INR 3.5/km. Though it comes loaded with features and promising specs, how does the Windsor EV fare against the Tata Nexon EV? Let’s find out in this comparison.

MG Windsor EV vs Tata Nexon EV: Dimensions

The Windsor EV is a 5-seater MPV that MG calls a Crossover Utility Vehicle, which makes it longer, wider and taller than the Tata Nexon EV. Dimension-wise, the MG Windsor measures 4,295 mm in length, 2,126 mm in width, and 1,677 mm in height while the wheelbase stands at 2,700 mm. The Tata Nexon EV, on the other hand, which is a subcompact offering has a length of 3,994 mm, width of 1,811 mm and height of 1,616 mm while the wheelbase is 2,498 mm. It’s also worth noting that the two EVs have a different approach apart from the size.

MG Windsor EV vs Tata Nexon EV: Specifications

Morris Garage India offers the Windsor EV in a single powertrain option that uses a 38kWh lithium-ion battery motor producing 134 bhp of power and 200 Nm of torque offering a claimed range of 331 km. Tata Nexon EV, on the other hand, comes in two versions – medium range and long range. The former uses a 30kWh motor making 127 bhp and 215 Nm, while the latter gets a 40.5kWh motor enough for 143 bhp and 215 Nm. The claimed range for both versions is 275 km and 390 km, respectively. New Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB Launch Set for October 9.

As for charging, the MG Windsor uses a 3.3 kW AC and 7.4 kW AC charger option that can take up to 13.8 hours and 6.5 hours of charging time, respectively. The EV also gets an option for a 50 kW DC charger bringing down the charging time to 55 mins for up to 80 per cent. Tata Nexon EV also employs 3.3 kW AC, 7.2 kW AC and 50 kW DC chargers. The medium-range variant can be fully charged in 10.5 hours and 4.3 hours using an AC charger, respectively. However, it takes about an hour to fully charge the EV via a DC fast charger. Moreover, fast charging time for the long-range variant remains the same. However, the AC charger does it in 15 hours and 6 hours, respectively.

In terms of features, MG equips the top-end Windsor with a large 15.6-inch touchscreen unit, 8.8-inch digital instrument units, four driving modes,  wireless phone charger, auto-dimming IRVMs, leather upholstery, 360-degree cameras, connected car technology, ambient lighting, Infinity audio system, ventilated front, 6-way power-adjustable driver seat, and a panoramic glass roof, all-LED lighting, reclining rear seat backrest, 6-airbags, ABS, ESP, hill start assist and descent control and auto headlamps and wipers, cruise control, auto climate control, and more.

On the other hand, the Tata Nexon EV comes loaded with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, 10.25-inch digital instruments display, 6 airbags, ESP, a reverse camera, auto climate control, keyless go and connected car tech, JBL sound system, 360-degree camera, leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, auto headlamps and wipers, air purifier, sunroof, and more. 2024 Tata Punch With New Premium Features Launched in India.

MG Windsor EV vs Tata Nexon EV: Price

The MG Windsor EV comes in three variants – Excite, Exclusive and Essence. The base and mid variants carry a price tag of INR 13.49 lakh and INR 14.49 lakh (both ex-showroom). The top-end variant costs INR 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Tata Motors’ Nexon EV is priced from INR 12.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to INR 16.29 (ex-showroom).
