Tesla layoffs began almost a month ago, in mid-April, when the Elon Musk-run EV company confirmed to cut 10% of its workforce worldwide, leading to thousands of people leaving their roles. Although there were some hopes about the laid-off employees, Elon Musk said that it would be highly unlikely that they would be hired in any alternative roles. Now, a report by ET Auto said that the fresh Tesla layoffs will begin cutting 601 more people from different facilities. The report said that the latest round of Tesla job cuts will be implemented in San Francisco from the company facilities located in Palo Alto, Fremont, and California. The layoffs will begin on June 20, 2024, as the 14-day period would begin on the same date. Elon Musk’s Tesla informed about the latest round of job cuts in its WARN (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification).
Earlier, the EV company reportedly said to cut 6,020 roles in California and Texas. On April 30, Elon Musk disbanded the entire Tesla Supercharger team, including senior employees and later announced a $500 million investment to expand the department, extending the current charging network. The layoffs at Tesla affected employees and some interns who planned to join the electric vehicle-making company. According to a post on X, Tesla will lay off 601 employees across several locations in California starting June 20, 2024. It said 164 employees will be cut from 45500 Fremont Blvd, 65 from 47700 Kato Road, and 149 from 901 Page Avenue in Fremont. More than 53 employees will be cut from 1501 Page Mill Road, 52 from 3000 Hanover Street, and 118 from 3500 Deer Creek Road in Palo Alto.
