A man was allegedly mowed down by a tractor on Wednesday in Bayana village in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur, said police, adding they have detained five people from the spot while some fled away.
A video of the incident also surfaced online showing a man being repeatedly mowed by a tractor. Some women were also seen in the field at the time of the incident.
Police said that the incident was related to a land dispute between two groups of farmers in the village. A clash took place between them on Wednesday leading to the death of one farmer, said police.
Omprakash Kalwaniya, additional superintendent of police (ASP), Bayana range, said that apart from one death, nearly half a dozen people got injured in the clash that took place between two groups. Police have identified the deceased as Narpat Singh Gurjar.
The injured people were admitted to Bayana Community Health Centre for treatment, said the ASP, adding that the deceased body was taken for post-mortem.
He said that the group also clashed three days ago and a complaint was registered by them against each other, they clashed again on Wednesday in which Narpat Singh Gurjar was killed.
“The police didn’t take action when they attacked us three days ago. I was going to the farmland for ploughing by tractor where they pelted stones and attacked my family members. Himmat Singh Gurjar mowed down my brother,” said Vinod Gurjar, brother of the deceased said.
