During the latest hearing for┬аBritney SpearsтАЩ ongoing conservatorship case┬аon Wednesday, the 39-year-old singer addressed the court again. Speaking over the phone, Britney got emotional, crying as she told Los Angeles judge┬аBrenda┬аPenny that she wants her father, Jamie Spears, charged with conservatorship abuse.

Judge Penny also granted Britney approval to hire her own legal counsel for the conservatorship case, a request the singer made during her testimony at a hearing on June 23. Britney was granted permission to hire Mathew Rosengart, a prominent Hollywood lawyer and former federal prosecutor, as her new attorney moving forward.

ET reported earlier on Wednesday that judge Penny would hear a number of different issues during the July 14 hearing, which began at approximately 1:30 p.m. PT┬аat the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in downtown Los Angeles. As expected, a┬аrange of issues and petitions were addressed,┬аincluding attorney and conservator fees and┬аthe┬аresignation of Bessemer Trust┬аas co-conservator of BritneyтАЩs estate.

Additionally, the ACLU,┬аthe ACLU of Southern California┬аand 25 other civil rights and disability rights organizations came together in support of Britney and her right to┬аchoose her own attorney for her conservatorship proceedings.

The ACLU filed a petition with┬аthe Superior Court of Los Angeles earlier this week, requesting the ability┬аto provide confidential communication with Britney in order to┬аoffer┬аand provide┬аsupported decision-making services without a cost, and were heard briefly on the matter during WednesdayтАЩs hearing. Their petition was denied, however, due to the fact that Britney now has┬аnew legal counsel.

тАЬAfter BritneyтАЩs testimony in the last hearing, I think thereтАЩs certainly a lot of public sentiment over ending this conservatorship for good,тАЭ legal analyst Rachel Stockman, who has been following the case, told┬аET ahead of the latest hearing. тАЬI think this is a very important day for Britney.┬аFinally, we may see the light at the end of the tunnel, which is her conservatorship тАж weтАЩre getting close to this actually ending for Britney Spears.тАЭ

тАЬThe judge is going to be looking at more than a dozen different motions in this case and making some important decisions,тАЭ she continued. тАЬSo I think this is a very big day. They judge has a lot to consider when sheтАЩs looking at this case.тАЭ

During the previous┬аhearing on June 23, Britney┬аaddressed the court directly┬аfor the first time in years, requesting to terminate the┬аconservatorship without having to be evaluated, see a therapist at her home once a week┬аand more. At one point, she also urged the court to let her hire her own counsel.

BritneyтАЩs mother,┬аLynne Spears, had also asked the court to let the singer┬аhire her own non-court-appointed lawyer of her choosing, while BritneyтАЩs temporary conservator of her person,┬аJodi Montgomery, filed a petition asking the┬аcourt to appoint a guardian ad litem to assist Britney in┬аfinding a lawyer.

Just last week, days┬аafter Britney gave her first┬аexplosive testimony,┬аher┬аcourt-appointed attorney of 13 years, Samuel Ingham,┬аresigned from the case. A┬аjudge approved the attorneyтАЩs motion to be removed on Wednesday.

тАЬI think itтАЩs real game changer if Britney┬аfinally gets to hire her own attorney, her own advocate to fight for her,тАЭ Stockman tells ET. тАЬShe gets to choose someone, she gets to vet the background, and she gets to make that decision. I think itтАЩs a big move and I think itтАЩs a really important one.тАЭ

The New York Times┬аpreviously reported┬аthat ahead of the latest hearing, Britney┬аwas telling others that┬аshe wanted┬аto take тАЬa far more aggressive legal approach,тАЭ and was┬аhaving┬аdiscussions with Mathew S. Rosengart about representing her and pushing for an end to her conservatorship. Rosengart┬аhas represented a number of celebrities over the years, including Ben Affleck, Sean Penn┬аand Steven Spielberg.

As ET previously reported, Britney has been┬аunder the legal conservatorship for 13 years, and certainly didnтАЩt hold back while explaining her frustrations about the legal constraints during last monthтАЩs┬аhearing.┬аSpeaking to the court for over 20 minutes, the singer detailed why she believes┬аthe conservatorship is тАЬabusive,тАЭ┬аincluding claims that she has been┬аprevented from removing her IUD┬аin order to have more kids.

тАЬIтАЩve been in denial. IтАЩve been in shock. I am traumatized. You know, fake it till you make it, but now IтАЩm telling you the truth, OK,тАЭ she said at the time. тАЬIтАЩm not happy. I canтАЩt sleep. IтАЩm so angry, itтАЩs insane and IтАЩm depressed.┬аI cry every day.тАЭ

тАЬItтАЩs enough and it makes no sense at all тАж IтАЩm done,тАЭ Britney continued, accusing her father, Jamie Spears, and those involved in her conservatorship of тАЬcriminalтАЭ behavior.┬атАЬI want to sue my family, to be totally honest with you.тАЭ

After a brief recess, JamieтАЩs attorney relayed a statement on his clientтАЩs┬аbehalf, telling the court, тАЬHe is sorry to see his daughter suffering and in so much pain. Mr. Spears loves his daughter and misses her very much.тАЭ

Jamie currently remains in control of BritneyтАЩs┬аfinances after a┬аjudge┬аdenied the pop starтАЩs request┬аto remove her father as conservator of her estate late last month.┬аJamie has also┬аasked┬аthat his daughterтАЩs claims from the June 23 hearing be investigated.┬аIn court documents┬аobtained by ET, he claims they are тАЬserious allegations regarding forced labor, forced medical treatment and therapy, improper medical care, and limitations on personal rights.тАЭ
