Two police officers were stabbed Monday morning while on a call in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

The officers were responding to a 911 report of a forcible confinement at a residence in the Strathcona neighbourhood, near Keefer Street and Gore Avenue, involving a two-year-old child. When they entered the suite, police say a struggle ensued and both officers were stabbed.

Police used a Taser on a 59-year-old man.

Both officers were taken to hospital and are in stable condition. The man was also taken to hospital for treatment.

The investigation continues and the Independent Investigations Office of B.C. has been notified.
