Two boys are suspected to have drowned in Bhima river at Koregaon Bhima village in the Shirur taluka of Pune district today afternoon.
Police have identified them as Anurag Vijay Mandale (16) and Gaurav Swami (16), both residents of Dherange Wasti in Koregaon Bhima.
Police said the two with some other boys from the area went to the river to swim in the afternoon. Around 1 pm, the two boys were not seen in the river. Suspecting they had drowned, local residents informed the police.
Police inspector Pramod Kshirsagar of Shikrapur police station said a search operation was carried out with the help of PMRDA fire service and local fishermen. But even till 7 pm, the boys were not found. The search operation was stopped and will continue on Monday, police said.
