Nitin Kareer gets additional charge as MahaMetro MD

The Maharashtra government Monday appointed senior bureaucrat Nitin Kareer as the Managing Director of Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha-Metro) which is executing the Pune metro rail project in the city.

The tenure of Brijesh Dixit has come to an end as he has retired from the service, the government said. According to a MahaMetro official, the additional charge will continue till a new full time MD is appointed.

In an official order on May 15, the Maharashtra government said it has decided to give тАЬtemporary charge of Managing Director of MahaMetro to Nitin Kareer, Additional Chief Secretary (Finance), with immediate effect till further government ordersтАЭ.

Kareer has been asked to take over the charge of Managing Director of MahaMetro having its main office in Nagpur.

There has been a delay in starting the operations of the phase one of the Pune Metro and now, it is expected to be operationalised by December-end.
