RAdm Susheel Menon takes charge as flag officer sea training | India News

KOCHI: Rear Admiral Susheel Menon assumed charge as the Flag Officer Sea Training (FOST) at the Southern Naval Command, Kochi on Monday. The officer, who is a recipient of the Vishisht Seva Medal, was the commanding officer of aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya prior to his present appointment as FOST.
Menon is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned into the Indian Navy on July 1, 1992. He is a graduate of the Naval Command and Staff Course at Jakarta, Indonesia and Naval Command Course, Rhode Island, USA.
Consequent to his qualification as a gunnery specialist, he served as Gunnery Officer in Indian Naval Ships Ranvijay and Talwar as commissioning crew.
His other tenures at sea include executive officer of missile destroyer INS Mumbai, Commanding Officer of the navy’s torpedo recovery vessel TRV 71, missile corvette INS Kirpan and missile destroyer INS Kolkata. He has also held the appointment of Fleet Gunnery Officer of the Western Fleet.
His staff assignments include tenures as Joint Director in the Directorate of Personnel, Directing Staff at Naval War College, Goa and naval advisor to vice chief of naval staff. Earlier, Menon has served as Commodore (Operations) at naval headquarters, Eastern Naval Command and Commodore (Strategy, Concepts and Transformation) at Integrated Headquarters MoD (Navy), New Delhi.
