Karnataka election results: Trends show Kumaraswamy’s JD(S) set to lose seats, vote share | India News
According to latest trends, Kumaraswamy‘s party is leading in 25 assembly seats with a vote share of around 13%.
The party this time faced a tough challenge from both the national parties – the BJP and the Congress.
In the last assembly elections, the JD(S) had won 37 seats with a vote share of 18.3%. The party’s best vote share was 20.8% in 2004 when it won 58 seats.
In 2018, the JD(S) joined hands with the Congress to keep the BJP out of power and HD Kumaraswamy became the chief minister of the coalition government.
However, the government was short-lived as several MLAs from both the parties defected to the BJP and helped the saffron party form its government.
In the past, Kumaraswamy has joined hands with both the BJP and the Congress to form governments in the state.
