Pilot’s Sangharsh Yatra personal: Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Dotasara

On Thursday, the Congress MLA from Tonk began his ‘Jan Sangharsh Yatra’ from Ajmer. He is holding a 125 km yatra from Ajmer to Jaipur, against the alleged corruption and cases of paper leak in Rajasthan.

Pilot had on April 11 held a one-day dharna against his own party-led government in Rajasthan, under chief minister Ashok Gehlot alleging that the state government failed to investigate cases of alleged corruption during the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rule in Rajasthan.

Meanwhile, in a veiled attack on his former deputy, Gehlot on Thursday said that those who create factions can never become successful and never be loyal to the party.

“Those indulging in factionalism…(Thari-Mhari karte hai)…can never become successful. They are never loyal to the party. Loyalty is very important,” Gehlot said.

His remarks have come in the wake of his differences with his former deputy. Gehlot and Pilot have been at loggerheads over the chief minister’s post since the formation of its government in 2018.

Gehlot said that he worked to lengthen the line instead of shortening it and worked his entire life for the party’s principles and policies with allegiance, honesty, and commitment.

“Be it anyone’s man, I selected everyone at that time with a thought that he is a person from Congress, party high command and Sonia Gandhi. I respected and honoured everyone and progressed by winning the hearts of people,” he added.

Speaking to media persons at the state party office, Dotasara said, “This is his (Pilot’s) personal yatra. This is not Congress organisation yatra.”

Dotasara said that any organisational yatra is one having the party’s symbol, photo of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi or All Indian Congress Committee.

When asked will it benefit or damage the party, he said, “It’s the party leadership to decide on it.”
