A text message purporting to be from myGov was sent to some people telling them they were eligible for a one-time payment of $750.
The text reads: “myGov: Eligible individuals can receive a one-time payment of $750 to help with their living expenses”, with a link to what appears to be a fake website.
“I’m hearing that scam texts like this are being sent tonight – don’t click on any links in texts messages,” Assistant Treasurer and Finance Minister Stephen Jones said.
He said such texts were scams and reminded Aussies that “any message from myGov will appear in your myGov inbox”.
