According to the data provided by state health officials, Patna administered only 224 shots of the Corbevax vaccine since April 16. Of this, 184 are booster shots while 38 are shots given to the 12 to 14-year population, said district immunisation officer Dr SP Vinayak.

Patna administered the maximum single-day shotsтАУ 39 on April 24. Prior to that, it administered 38 doses on April 19 and 36 doses on April 20, said the officer.

For the past three days, Patna has struggled to complete the full dose of 20 shots in a vial of Corbevax, having administered 17 doses each on April 25 and 26 and 18 doses on April 27.

тАЬThe eligible population should take the Covid-19 vaccine as soon as possible. Though the Covid-19 infection is largely confined to the upper respiratory tract, and lasts for a week, in some cases, especially for people with co-morbidities, there is a possibility of the virus going to the lungs and complicating oneтАЩs condition,тАЭ said Dr Vinayak.

The state exhausted its Corbevax vaccines, eligible for children in the age group of 12 to 14 years and as a booster shot for a population of 18 years and above, last November. The stocks of Covishield flew off the shelves on February 8 and that of Covaxin on March 31.

PatnaтАЩs first dose Covid vaccination coverage has been 86% while its second dose coverage was 90% of the eligible population.
