Gurgaon: The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has started working on establishing digital connectivity for government hospitals, primary health centres, and community health centres in the city.

The metropolitan development authority has floated the tender for connecting optical fibre network to various government healthcare buildings and providing integrated healthcare services.

Under this, the CHCs and PHCs will be linked to integrated command and control centre (ICCC) on the optical fibre network of the GMDA. Additionally, medical software will also be installed in ICCC, which will be linked to identified CHCs and PHCs.

This will boost medical services in the city and strengthen tele-consultation and tele-medicine facilities for the citizens, said the GMDA official on Monday.

There are two hospitals and 19 PHCs and CHCs, along with the office of chief medical officer, which have been identified by the health department wherein supporting equipment will be installed and will be linked with ICCC. This would cost around Rs. 1.5 crores to the GMDA for building the infrastructure and connecting these sites with ICCC.

According to the GMDA senior official, the project is being carried out in close coordination with the district health department.

“The city already has a vast optical fibre network which is being laid across 358 intersection points. With the technology advancement, it become more imperative to have digitally integrated healthcare services. We have started the tendering process for connecting these sites with ICCC and we are expecting the tendering process to be completed within one month. Another six months would be required to complete the project,” the senior official said.

Moreover, vital testing devices and medical kits along with supporting staff and equipment will also be set up at these healthcare facilities. Patients seeking consultation for the physicians empaneled with the hospitals can visit their nearest CHCs and PHCs.

With the infrastructural and technological support being set-up by GMDA, the patients can conveniently seek the benefit of tele-consultation from these centers without the need to travel at frequent intervals to visit the hospital.
