A gang of miscreants went on a rampage in the Pandav Nagar area of Pune and damaged at least 20 vehicles in the early hours of Monday following a dispute between two local groups over supremacy in the area, the police said Tuesday.
The incident took place around 12.30 am on Monday as a group of 18 to 20 miscreants brandishing machetes and wooden sticks went on a vandalism spree in the PMC colony in Pandav Nagar area and also terrorised local residents and people from the rival group.
The gang also attacked one Sonu Awaghade (25) with a machete. Sub Inspector Rupesh Chalke, who is investigating the case, said that the incident was a fallout of rivalry between two local groups over supremacy in the area. “We have started arresting the suspects in the case.”
The police added that of the over 18 suspects, two of the accused, Rupesh Vitkar and Ismail Shaikh, have been arrested.
