BHUBANESWAR: Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Friday lambasted the state government and ruling party leaders for not facing the truth and making Odisha a favourable place of criminal activities. He also targeted chief minister Naveen Patnaik while addressing party workers here on Friday.
He said Odisha government’s key is in the hand of a duplicate person. “It is in the hands of an unconstitutional person. Who is running the government? If we ask any question about this, the ruling party people accuse us of playing politics,” he added.
He further said, “I want to remind the chief minister that criminal activities and lawlessness are on the rise in the state. From the murder of former minister Naba Das to abduction and killing of a minor boy in Jharsuguda district proves this. If we raise this issue, the ruling party says that we are defaming Odisha.”
He said the ruling party people are speaking in the voice of East India company. The person involved in the Seashore chit fund case is pointing fingers at the Yogi-led Uttar Pradesh government. “The ruling party should know how Yogi has controlled crime in his state. Because of this, Yogi again came to power. Learn something from that state,” he added.
Targeting the BJD, he said, “You have been in power for the last 23 years. Many ruling party leaders are involved in criminal activities. Several cases are pending against them,” he added.
He said Yogi had told his assembly that he will not let any criminal go scot-free. “Can you speak like this? No. Because there are five criminals on your right side and four on the left. You are the saviour of criminals. You do not know what you do and which type of advice you get. You are not in a position to understand,” he said pointing finger at Naveen.
He said India will become a developed nation by 2047. Similarly, Odisha should get developed by April 1, 2036, the 100th year of formation of the state. “If we want development, we need a double-engineered government in Odisha. People of the state should come forward to bring the BJP government in the state,” he added.
BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty said Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan habitually gives such cheap and derogatory statements because of the complex. “He is unsure about the potential of the state and people of Odisha. Therefore, habitually give such wild statements,” he added.
Earlier in the day, BJD had targeted the Union minister for giving false promises to people of the state. “Odisha people also know the BJP leaders. The Union ministers are like empty vessels who create much sound,” he added.
