In a Twitter post, the Karnataka Congress said, “BJP minister Murugesh Nirani insulted the Hindu gods. CT Ravi had consumed non vegetarian food before stepping into a temple. Ministers Ashwath Narayan and R Ashoka had insulted Bhoota Kola and Araga Jnanendra insulted Guliga god. Sharanu Salagar even stepped on lord Rama. Are these people the protectorsof Hindu religion?”

Earlier in February, Congress leader Siddaramaiah had hit out at CT Ravi for allegedly visiting temple after consuming the meat. He then tweeted, “To eat meat or not to eat, to go to temples or not is a personal choice. It should not be a matter of political debate. Political leaders should discuss the welfare of the people and the development of the state. May God give @CTRavi_BJP, who is engaged in slander, a good mind.”

Siddaramaiah was also in soup for allegedly visiting temples after eating the meat. The Congress leader accused BJP workers of spreading false news about him and calling him ‘anti-Hindu’, while adding that CT Ravi’s actions have now forced them to “eat their own vomit”. Karnataka will go to assembly polls on May 10 and results will be declared on May 13.
