The Pune city police have formed ‘morning walk squads’ to do ‘foot patrolling’ where people gather in the morning, according to a press release issued Wednesday.

It stated that the police personnel would interact with people, especially senior citizens, who go for morning walks and discuss their problems regarding safety and security.

Between 6 am and 8 am Wednesday, senior police officers, including Joint Commissioner of Police Sandip Karnik, along with zonal deputy commissioners, 28 inspectors, 47 assistant and sub-inspectors and 222 constabularies, carried out morning walks at 85 locations in the jurisdiction of 35 police stations of Pune city police, and interacted with people.

The police said they would carry out similar morning walks and foot patrolling from time to time at places like bus stops, railway stations, and marketplaces where people come in the morning hours to keep a check on the crimes happening at these spots.
