Tamboo Market Saturday began an exhibition showcasing handmade crafts at MotherQuilts Studio on FC Road in Pune.

There are 12 stalls for items such as clothing, home decor, packaged food, jewellery, gardening decor and kids wear.

The main feature of Tamboo Market is providing handmade and earth-friendly products to the consumers and a platform to showcase the craftsmanship of people from different parts of India. The initiative seeks to support small scale artists who work from their homes. Hearing-impaired artists were also given a platform.

тАЬWe are seven years old and our forte is providing opportunities to the budding entrepreneurs who are into handmade business and not mass manufacturing,тАЭ said Supriya KP social media handler and relationship manager at Tamboo Market.

Tejal Patwa, a fashion designer from Ahmednagar, said, тАЬI have my in-house production and we are mainly focused on recycling old sarees and making elegant design out from it so that you donтАЩt have to waste anything from your wardrobe.тАЭ

Beside the exhibition, a quilting workshop by traditional quilters of MotherQuilts will also be conducted Sunday between 11 am and 2 pm. It includes teaching traditional quilting patterns, hand-stitching, and stories narrating the quiltersтАЩ journey.
