Jasmine Hartin is heading back behind bars because a friend has decided to no longer to stump up the cash for bail.

The socialite, who is the “daughter-in-law” of billionaire Tory donor Lord Ashcroft, was initially denied bail and remanded in custody having been charged with manslaughter by negligence over the death of superintendent Henry Jemmott.

Hartin was allegedly playing with Jemmott’s gun when it went off and killed him.

The Canadian, the partner of Lord Ashcroft’s son, was held for 12 days in the Central American country’s top prison, only for the court to make a U-turn.

Hartin was given her freedom and released on £10,500 bail when Supreme Court Justice, Herbert Lord, ruled against prosecutors who argued she was a flight risk.

That decision was met with disbelief by many locals.

Now she is heading back behind bars after a former associate said he was no longer willing to cover her bail money, reports MailOnline.

In a letter to Belize’s Supreme Court, Frank Habet wrote that he was worried he would lose his 60,000 Belizean dollars ($30,000) if Hartin did not show up for trial.

The mum-of-two was stopped by security on Tuesday when she tried to access her Grand Colony resort apartment to see her young twins.

That incident is apparently what sparked Habet to write the letter in which he says she behaved “in a disorderly and abusive manner and creating great disturbance”.

“I now think Ms Hartin is quite capable of not showing up for trial and I wish to immediately withdraw my cash deposit and revoke the surety form I signed as I simply cannot afford the financial loss should this occur,” he wrote.

Justice Herbert Lloyd told a court hearing on Friday that with no one else to back her bail, Hartin would have to spend the weekend in Hattieville Prison.

Hartin is accused of the manslaughter of the cop after apparently accidentally shooting him in the head with his Glock pistol service revolver during a drinking session.

Described by Lord Ashcroft’s youngest Andrew as his “wife”, Hartin said the death was a “living nightmare”.

Henry Jemmott was found floating in the sea

She has reportedly told police in a statement: “I picked up the gun and tried to eject the magazine clip, but it was stuck.

“I struggled with it, trying to get the magazine out when the gun suddenly went off.

“I had no idea it still had a bullet in the chamber.”

Hartin, who has two children with Ashcroft, 43, reportedly added: “Henry fell back on top of me. I was pinned down, and he was bleeding all over me.

“As I was wriggling to get out from under him, to get free so I could check to see if he was OK, he slipped into the water.”

Hartin is claimed to have told detectives Jemmott, 42, gave her the gun to practise her shooting skills.
