India yet to have an authentic history of national freedom movement: Tamil Nadu governor | India News
Speaking at the 126th birth anniversary celebrations of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at Raj Bhavan, Ravi said freedom was obtained not because of some people associated with a particular party. тАЬThey did a good job. No doubt. But we cannot forget those who fought with arms and sacrificed their lives for freedom,тАЭ the governor said.
тАЬWe were so obsessed that everything will happen with peace, without realising that nobody listens to peace if you are not strong,тАЭ he said.
He said Tamil Nadu has many freedom fighters who gave their lives for the freedom struggle. тАЬMore than 30,000 PhDs had been obtained in the field of humanities from 2001 to 2020 in the universities of Tamil Nadu. Most of them are written about a handful of people — many without realising their worth,тАЭ he said.
Steps would be taken to ensure that the state universities in Tamil Nadu did a detailed research of unsung freedom fighters in their jurisdictions, he said.
The governor said that he had made an appeal to the state universities to identify at least five freedom fighters in villages in their jurisdiction and do detailed studies. тАЬBut this was not heeded to. Now, I will enforce it,тАЭ he said.
Meanwhile, ministers Ma Subramanian and P K Sekar Babu, Chennai mayor R Priya, MLAs and officials paid tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. They paid floral tributes to a portrait of the late leader near his statue on the Kamarajar Salai.
