NEW DELHI: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Thursday issued show-cause notices to several Air India officials over the shocking incident of a man allegedly urinating on an elderly woman co-passenger during a New York-Delhi flight in November last year.
In its notice, the watchdog asked why enforcement action shouldn’t be taken against them for dereliction of their duties.
The notice was sent to accountable manager, director of in-flight Services, pilots and the cabin crew.
The incident had occurred on November 26 when the flight was on its way from John F Kennedy international airport in New York to Delhi.
The inebriated male passenger allegedly urinated on an elderly woman and flashed his private parts.
He was later banned for 30 days by the airline.
Meanwhile, taking serious note of the Air India urination incident, the ministry of civil aviation directed the airline to conduct an internal probe into the matter and submit the report as soon as possible, said top government sources on Thursday.
“Ministry of Civil Aviation takes serious note on Air India urination case. MoCA has asked Air India to provide all the details of the incident. MoCA has also asked Air India to hold an internal probe into the matter and submit the report as soon as possible. The probe should be time-bound,” the top government sources told ANI.
