Undercover police vehicles ram into car on major Sydney road

A high-speed chase on a busy Sydney road ended in chaos after three dark-coloured SUVs rammed into a red Ford Focus.

NSW Police confirmed a man and a woman were arrested after trying to flee the scene on the Pacific Highway in the Sydney suburb of Killara.

It unfolded just after 8pm in front of shocked drivers on Friday evening, who reported hearing weapons fire тАУ possibly Tasers.

In video obtained by 9News.com.au, a passenger in a nearby vehicle films police officers wearing tactical equipment.

Loud bangs can be heard as officers scramble over the vehicles to get at the suspects.

The woman filming the incident can be heard yelling “babe, babe, babe … baby get out” when loud bangs echo across the street.

The driver says “they just shot someone” as he turns their vehicle to escape the danger. я╗┐

The three police vehicles had earlier sped past the witnesses, with two reportedly driving in the oncoming lanes to reach the suspect.

All three rammed into the car.

A police helicopter was also spotted hovering above the scene.

NSW Police confirmed the incident started after я╗┐officers attached to State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad, with assistance from specialist police, were conducting enquiries to locate two people allegedly wanted on outstanding warrants.

The driver, a 35-year-old man, and passenger, a 25-year-old woman, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries where they are under police guard.

The man reportedly has dog bites and witnesses saw a police dog at the scene.
