James Cameron To Miss Hollywood Premiere Of тАШAvatar: The Way Of WaterтАЩ Due To COVID Diagnosis┬а

James Cameron has tested positive for COVID-19.

The highly acclaimed director wonтАЩt be able to attend tonightтАЩs Los Angeles premiere of his movie тАЬAvatar: The Way of WaterтАЭ, which hits theatres this Friday.

тАЬI am in L.A., just back from Tokyo, and I managed to pick up COVID on the plane, so IтАЩm isolated and canтАЩt go to my own premiere tonight,тАЭ Cameron told Deadline. тАЬThe number of people IтАЩve told over the years, тАШah, weтАЩll catch up and IтАЩll see you at the premiereтАЩтАжwell, I guess not. Man proposes, and God disposes.тАЭ

A rep for Disney told the publication: тАЬJames Cameron has COVID, but is feeling fine.тАЭ

тАЬHe tested positive as part of a routine testing cadence,тАЭ┬аthe mass media companyтАЩs statement continued. тАЬHe will continue to complete his schedule virtually but will not be at the premiere.тАЭ

Cameron last attended the filmтАЩs premiere in Seoul, South Korea on Dec. 9, as part of the тАЬAvatarтАЭ press tour. Prior to that, he touched down in London for the world premiere last Tuesday, Dec. 6.

Despite CameronтАЩs┬аabsence from the Dec. 12 L.A. premiere, the stars of тАЬAvatar: The Way of WaterтАЭ are expected to attend, including Kate Winslet, Zoe Salda├▒a, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Edie Falco and Jemaine Clement.
