PATNA: Four people suffered injuries on Monday after a Janata Dal-United MLAтАЩs son along with his aides allegedly fired indiscriminately following a dispute with the land owner of an under-construction plot in BiharтАЩs Bhagalpur district, police said.

According to police, Ashish Mandal alias Tinku, son of JD(U) MLA Narendra Kumar Neeraj alias Gopal Mandal, who represents the Gopalpur constituency in Bhagalpur, along with aides fired at one Lal Bahadur Singh while he was constructing a boundary wall on the plot.

тАЬAshish, owner of a restaurant along with his maternal uncle, restaurant employee Dilip Mandal, associate Dhananjay Yadav, and others reached the spot at around 9 am and ordered to stop the construction. When Singh refused to do so, they allegedly attacked him with iron rods and sticks. Subsequently, Ashish took out his gun and fired more than 10 rounds,тАЭ police said.

Police said that Singh, his wife Madhuri, son Veer Bahadur Singh and one Ravi alias Sharad Yadav suffered injuries and were rushed to Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College and Hospital (JLNMCH). Ravi was later referred to Siliguri in critical condition.

тАЬThe MLA had been threatening me for almost 15-20 days, not to step into my land. Ravi, a friend of my son, suffered a bullet injury in an attempt to save me. The ruling party MLA is behind the incident. There is no dispute, itтАЩs my land,тАЭ said Singh.

The MLA, however, claimed that his son doesnтАЩt know how to operate a gun. тАЬMy son runs a hotel spread in 20 kattha land. He rushed there after he heard of a fight adjacent to our land. Someone is trying to tarnish my image by accusing my son,тАЭ the MLA said.

тАЬNobody will be allowed to take law in his hand. Action will be taken as per law,тАЭ said Bhagalpur City SP Swarn Prabhat.
