Earlier, Praveen Iyer, the co-founder of Akasa Air, said that the new flight service will increase the connectivity between Pune and Bengaluru. “We are happy to add Pune to our fast-expanding network as our second destination in the state of Maharashtra. Connectivity between Bengaluru and Pune is most important as they are the major IT hubs in India. The new flight services will not only offer enhanced connectivity and options but also provide Akasa AirтАЩs signature experience with our dependable, warm and efficient service coupled with very reasonable prices,тАЭ he said.
Two additional flight services were added between Bengaluru and Mumbai on November 26. The number of Akasa Air flight services between the tech capital and financial capital increased to seven with this latest addition of flight services.
Akasa Air was reportedly backed by ace investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala who recently passed away due to ill health. The airline was also said to be JhunjhunwalaтАЩs dream project and he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi a few months before the launch. In July this year, the airline was granted the Air Operator Certificate from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
