The police on Wednesday arrested a 50-year-old man for allegedly raping a three-year-old girl in Bihar’s Khagaria, officials said.
The accused, Babloo Choudhary, a shopkeeper, has been booked under sections of IPC, said police.
The incident took place on Tuesday evening.
“When the survivor went to buy chocolate in a grocery shop on Tuesday evening, the accused allegedly took her inside and exploited her,” said police.

According to the father of the girl, who also is the complainant, when her child returned home, her private part was bleeding and “…when we tried to confront the shopkeeper, he assaulted us,” he said.
The child is undergoing treatment at the district hospital in Khagaria, under the protection of the police.
According to the police, the hospital surgeon constituted a two-member medical team to examine the child after the girl narrated her ordeal to the doctor.
“Right now we can’t say anything, we can only say anything concrete after the medical team submits the report,” civil surgeon Dr Amar Nath Jha said.
Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Sumit Kumar while confirming the incident said, “After the complaint, police arrested the accused. He was produced before the court on Wednesday which granted judicial custody.”
“We are awaiting the medical report and once it confirms the rape, the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act would be slapped against the accused,” he added.
