Barnacle-encrusted old Nokia washes up on Gold Coast beach

A local mum stumbled across the 3210 while walking on Palm Beach this morning.

Her daughter then took it to school for show and tell.

The 3210 was a smash hit when it was released, in part because it could withstand a lot of hits.

The phone was pre-loaded with the game Snake, and had enough memory to store 250 names in its phonebook.

It was also the first phone where users could compose their own monotone ringtones.

More than 160 million units were sold when it was released.

The success of the 3210 made the Finnish company the leading phonemaker of the early 2000s.
