JAMMU: J&K police have registered a case and launched a probe after posters were put up in Samba district, allegedly by terror outfit J&K Ghaznavi Force (JKGF), calling for observing the Accession Day as a “black day”.
The Accession Day, observed on October 26, marks the signing of the Instrument of Accession by Maharaja Hari Singh, the ruler of erstwhile princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, to join the Dominion of India and is declared a public holiday.
Samba SSP Abhishek Mahajan said “a reliable source” informed Bari Brahmana police station on Thursday morning about the poster pasted by JKGF on the entry gate of the municipal park.
An FIR was registered against unknown persons under section 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and IPC sections 153-A and 505 (for promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language etc. and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony), the SSP said.
According to intelligence reports, Pakistan-sponsored terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad has created a new group of highly-trained terrorists called ‘Ghaznavi Force’ to carry out terror attacks in J&K and other parts of India.
The terror outfit’s existence came to be known when two foreign terrorists belonging to the group, identified as Sajid and Bilal, died in an encounter with security forces in Poonch district on December 13, 2020.
JKGF had claimed responsibility for the Surankote attack in which five Army personnel were martyred on October 11, 2021, and for the grenade attack at a police station in Ramban district on August 2 this year.
