NEW DELHI: Terming the Varanasi court order over Gyanvapi case тАЬvery satisfactoryтАЭ, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Monday said the first hurdle of тАЬGyanvapi temple liberationтАЭ had been crossed.
тАЬVaranasi court has now decided that the Varanasi suit is not barred by the Places of Worship Act. The application of the other party has been dismissed. The first hurdle has been crossed. Now the court will examine the matter on its merit,тАЭ VHP president Alok Kumar, who was in Raipur for a three-day RSS concave, told TOI over the phone.
The VHP functionary said, тАЬWe do hope and look forward to a victory for the law … the truth is with us. I would like to say that this is a religious and a spiritual matter. Therefore, the decision should be accepted with grace and calmness and not be interpreted in the terms of victory or defeat.тАЭ
Kumar said VHP expects that the court will speed up hearing in the case and soon end the uncertainty. Varanasi court on Monday agreed to hear the case of five Hindu women who want to pray at a shrine inside the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi, next to the famous Kashi Viswanath temple. The women have claimed there are idols of Hindu gods and goddesses in the complex.
The court fixed September 22 as the next date of hearing in the case.
UPтАЩs deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak said: тАЬWe all respect and welcome the judgment of the court. The people of UP and the country are very happy. We were all waiting for the verdict.тАЭ
