IPS officer Dr Bheemashankar S Guled shared pictures of the last rites and respects paid to three cops who were killed on duty while trying to catch a drug peddler on Sunday.

Bengaluru’s police force on Monday said their last goodbyes to three of their comrades sub-inspector Avinash, constable Anil Malik and their driver Maxwell, who were tragically killed on duty in a road accident while on their way to catch a criminal.
IPS officer Dr. Bheemashankar S. Guled shared pictures of the last rites of the men on Twitter. “Saluting the departed souls #avinashpsi #Anilmulikpc Honoured by public’s love and everyone’s respect for departed souls,” he wrote.
He also shared a video of policemen observing silence for the cops, and offering salute to them with their guns. The pictures also showed people attending the ceremonies in huge numbers and offering flowers to the bodies.
The three cops were involved in an accident near Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday while they were on a drug peddler’s tail. Police sub-inspector Avinash, constable Anil Malik and their driver Maxwell were among the deceased, while two others, PSI Dixit and PC Sharanbasava were gravely injured.
All five police personnel who went to Andhra Pradesh on an operation are said to be posted at Shivaji Nagar police station of Bengaluru. Their vehicle is said to have rammed into the divider.

The incident brought forth emotional responses from several political figures in Karnataka, including chief minister Basavaraj Bommai, who took to Twitter to share his sorrow at the news.
“Saddened by the tragic road accident near Puthalpattu, Chittoor District. Heartfelt condolences to families of PSI Avinash, PC Anil Mulik & driver Maxwell. Wish speedy recovery to PSI Dikshit & PC Sharanbasava. Instructed @CPBlr to support bereaved families & take care of the injured,” he wrote.

The state’s Home Minister Araga Jnanendra and leader of opposition Siddaramaiah also expressed condolences, among several others.

Mumbai local: Harbour line services affected after coach derails at CSMT
Local train services on the Harbour line have been affected due to the derailment of a coach at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. The derailment occurred after the train touched the end of platform number 1. No one was injured in the incident which took place around 9.40 am, Central Railway’s chief public relations officer Shivaji Sutar said. HIV patients claim shortage of life-saving drugs, hold protest in Delhi
A group of HIV patients on Tuesday staged a protest in the national capital against the shortage of crucial antiretroviral drugs recommended to control the infection from progressing. The protests were held at the National AIDS Control Organization’s Office in Delhi, reported news agency ANI. Speaking to ANI, an HIV patient said that they had written to the authorities informing them about the shortage of drugs, but no action was taken on their complaint.
