Sorry to break it to you, but┬аReg├й-Jean Page┬аdoesnтАЩt тАЬburn for you.тАЭ But┬аPhoebe Dynevor┬аdoes.

Though тАЬBridgertonтАЭ fans collectively remember PageтАЩs Simon Hastings uttering the seriesтАЩ┬аmost famous four words тАФ тАЬI burn for youтАЭ тАФ on his and DaphneтАЩs wedding night, Page is setting the record straight.

тАЬI do not say, тАШI burn for you.тАЩ ItтАЩs not my line!тАЭ he says on┬аVarietyтАШs┬аMaking a Scene, clarifying that itтАЩs indeed DynevorтАЩs Daphne who delivers the line in the seriesтАЩ fifth episode, тАЬThe Duke and I.тАЭ

тАЬEveryone clearly was feeling very burned for, which IтАЩll take as a compliment,тАЭ he adds.

Daphne says the line after Simon assumes he тАЬburnsтАЭ for someone who does not feel the same. After her demure reveal, the pair kiss.

тАЬThe key to dialogue like that is just to make it as organic and as real as possible,тАЭ Dynevor explains of her delivery. тАЬThereтАЩs no other way to play saying a line like that than to make it an inward feeling.тАЭ

тАЬYou have no idea what lines people are going to care about,тАЭ Dynevor adds of the line becoming such a fan favourite. тАЬThat was surprising to me. It wasnтАЩt like I saw тАШI burn for youтАЩ in the script and was like, тАШThis is what people are going to talk about.’тАЭ

While season 1 of тАЬBridgertonтАЭ was full of romantic Simon-Daphne moments, fans will have to use their imagination as to where the couple goes in season 2. Page revealed earlier this year that he wonтАЩt be returning for the Netflix seriesтАЩ sophomore season, which will follow┬аAnthony BridgertonтАЩs (Jonathan Bailey)┬аlove story.

In a recent interview with┬аVariety, Page compared his departure to┬аleaving high school.

тАЬYouтАЩre afraid of the unknown, thinking, тАШOh, my god, IтАЩm never going to make friends as good as the ones I have,тАЩ┬аand then you do,тАЭ he said.

As for whether he was┬аnervous to exit the show just after one season, Page┬аnoted, тАЬNot at all.тАЭ

тАЬBecause thatтАЩs what was meant,тАЭ he said. тАЬSimon was this bomb of a one-season antagonist, to be reformed and to find his true self through Daphne. I think one of the bravest things about the romance genre is allowing people a happy ending.тАЭ
