The girlfriend of a tennis star has unwittingly sparked a commotion at Wimbledon with TV cameras accused of going too far.

The girlfriend of American tennis star Taylor Fritz has caused quite a commotion at Wimbledon.

Fashion influencer Morgan Riddle was at the centre of social media squabble after she became a sideshow to Rafael Nadal’s epic quarter-final win over her American boyfriend at Wimbledon on Thursday morning.

TV broadcasters around the globe showed Riddle’s reactions to her boyfriend’s fortunes during the match with some fans suggesting the camera work was simply too much.

Some fans, however, clearly couldn’t get enough of her emotional ride with the 24-year-old picking up 30,000 Instagram followers during the match — particularly in the final hour of the contest where she was shown on TV screens to what some would say was an excessive level.

Ahead of the match, Riddle — who had been chronicling her time overseas on social media — posted a supportive message to Fritz on her Instagram story.

“Let’s go baby,” Riddle gushed in a post that featured the players on the court, according to The New York Post.

She was supportive again after his defeat on Thursday morning, posting on her Instagram stories: “What a week, so proud. till next time”.

Riddle, who has been dating Fritz for two years, had been giving fans a peek at her London adventures over the past week and has previously launched a campaign on TikTok to “make tennis great again”.

The Los Angeles-based social media star has more than 250,000 TikTok followers.

Prior to Fritz’s matches, Riddle also asked her TikTok followers what outfits she should wear to Wimbledon.

Fritz, ranked No. 14 in the world, advanced to the quarterfinals on Monday after defeating Australia’s Jason Kubler in straight sets. Fritz previously defeated Nadal at Indian Wells in March and went on to celebrate with Riddle by his side.

The couple recently celebrated their second dating anniversary in June.

“2 years has flown by with @moorrgs️. I love you and I can’t wait for all the fun times still ahead for us. Thank you for all the love and support always… we really make an amazing team,” Fritz wrote on Instagram at the time.

Riddle has joined Fritz at various tournaments around the globe this past year. She cheered on the California native at the French Open in May, when he fell to Spain’s Bernabe Zapata Miralles in the second round.
