Russian battlefield kitchen full of potatoes, onions and pickles
Russia’s army appear to be surviving on just three ingredients after Ukrainian troops seized a battlefield kitchen.
Video taken by Ukrainian troops shows a huge KamAZ armoured vehicle fitted with a professional kitchen onboard.
But its cupboards were stocked with just onions, potatoes and jars of pickles, according to the clip which was posted on Reddit overnight.
Just one week ago, it emerged that battlefield were being fed out-of-date ration packs and now reports suggest that their “fresh” food is not much better.
Viewers were shocked at the clip which gives a tour of the vehicle which appeared to be left during fighting in recent weeks, reports the Daily Star.
Storage units onboard show bags upon bags of potatoes and onions while the kitchen itself is stacked with even more.

The soldier, speaking Ukrainian while filming the tour, also finds more bags of the same root vegetables piled high on the floor of the truck which was seemingly ransacked by locals.
Opening a few drawers, he then finds crockery and a third food item being jars of pickles.
Spices and seasoning was also seen in plastic boxes in a possible attempt to make the basic meals taste less bland for the Russian army.
The lack of variety was a source of amusement for those watching on Reddit.
One person joked: тАЬBubba Gump’s potato restaurant. We got fried taters, baked taters, boiled taters, cajun taters.тАЭ

While another pointed out that the contents of the truck might not be all the food the soldiers were given.
In a more pragmatic approach to the footage, they said: тАЬThe ingredients are most likely stored in another truck.
тАЬPretty weird there were potatoes on the floor, maybe it was on today’s menu.
тАЬSoldiers might also eat combat rations and potatoes might be just supplement for it.тАЭ
The insight comes a week after a Russian soldier shared a video of his rations online revealing that they expired seven years ago.
