The grieving daughter of a woman knifed to death on Christmas Day has shared an emotional tribute to her beloved mum.
Midwife and mum-of-two Rachel Wake, 52, was reportedly attacked in the presence of her teen daughter Romany and her brother, Gabriel, at their home in the Tasmanian city of Mornington.
Paramedics rushed to the scene, where they found the mum critically injured with knife wounds across her upper body.
Despite the best efforts of all involved, she later died at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
In the days after the slaying, daughter Romany wrote a moving tribute to her mum on Facebook.
She wrote: “I love you, and I miss you dearly. I wish we could have spent more time roller skating, rock climbing, and going to local theatre and screaming songs in our late night shopping runs.

“I’m going to miss your over filtered photos, your hugs as I had a bad day, and our cooking. I wish our last hug was one bit tighter.
“I hope your [sic] looking over me and laughing at my bad choices, and supporting my good ones, and giving me extra luck at my softball games.
“I love you dearly, and I’ll always be your annoying daughter.”
Cops said Darren Mark Wake, 60, has now been charged with Rachel’s murder. Their relationship is currently unclear, though officers say the suspect and victim knew each other, MailOnline reports.
The defendant refused to enter a plea when brought before magistrates at a Hobart court on Boxing Day and then yesterday.
Grieving Romany has set up another page, Rachel’s Voice, which she hopes will become a platform to demand officials enforce “stricter domestic violence laws”.
Romany wrote: “To honour her life, I’ve created a page to bring awareness to her story, and to enforce stricter domestic violence laws.”
Family friends and the parents of children she cared for as a midwife also shared tributes

On Facebook and a GoFundMe page set up to help the teens “rebuild their young lives”, the families Rachel touched in her job as a midwife also shared their stories about the mum-of-two.
One man revealed how she was at hand to comfort the sister of an unwell newborn while the family were distraught at the prospect of losing their “baby girl” in March this year.
And he said Rachel “bought [sic] life back” to the soul of baby Billie while caring for her distressed big sister Willo.
Another mum detailed how Rachel helped them through the struggle of miscarriages and then during the birth of their two boys.

She wrote: ‘Our first (Sam) was born prem. We spent a month in the Special Care Nursery with Rachel and lots of conversations were had about her love for her children.
“She was kind, patient and very understanding.”
The fundraiser was set up to allow Rachel’s children, Romany and Gabriel, to “rebuild their young lives”.
As of this afternoon, the GoFundMe has raised $87,000 (£47,000). If you would like to donate, you can do so here.
