A pair who became stranded in the Australian outback have been found by officers who called their survival an ‘absolute miracle.’
Shaun Emitja, 21, and 14-year-old Mahesh Patrick became separated last week after leaving their vehicle which had become stuck.
Northern Territory Police said the pair, who had gone missing in the area of the Arlparra and Harts Range were later found after a frantic search by officers and the public.
In a statement detectives said the 21-year-old was found at about 9.45pm on Saturday night and while he was undergoing health checks he appeared ‘well.’
His teenage companion Mahesh Patrick was earlier found in bushland by a community member at about 9.30pm on Friday.
Police said they wanted to thank all of those involved in the search.

ABC News reports that it was understood the pair had been attending a sports carnival in the area before getting lost.
Police said they had not had access to water or any provisions since Tuesday and had become separated from each other the following day.
Southern Region Acting Commander Kirsten Engels was reported to have said that their ‘ute’ vehicle had become stuck and they were unable to get it out.
She said they stayed with the vehicle for a day before walking 5km up a hill with an empty jerrycan.
They were then said to have backtracked after realising they had gone the wrong way before later becoming separated.
Mahesh then trekked about 35km on his own before he was eventually found by officers.

She said: “Mahesh walked approximately 12km to a fence line and spent the next two days and two nights camping and traversing down that fence line another 7km.
“Miraculously, he was located by community members who reunited him with his community and family.”
She was reported to have said he was dehydrated and had sore feet, but was otherwise in good health.
After speaking with him police later located the other missing man.
She added: “They are extremely lucky to be alive — we all know how harsh it is out there.
“For what these boys went through, I can hardly believe they have so [few] scars physically.”
She went on to thank members of the community, who came out to help with the search effort along with the police.
