A groom-to-be has been jailed for life after being found guilty of murdering his brother in a “vengeful” stabbing attack.
The altercation, occurring on June 12, 2019, saw Mr Robbins and his family having drinks just days away from the nuptials тАУ with the brothers then getting into a heated argument over family matters.
During the fight, Bernard’s would-be bride Sally Doring threatened to call off the wedding, leaving her fianc├й overcome with “rage”.
He told his older brother to “f–k off” and “go back to Perth” before telling him he didn’t want him at his wedding.
The court heard Robbins then lost control, grabbing a knife and stabbing his 61-year-old sibling seven times.
Robbins’ lawyer argued he acted in self-defence as he was provoked and in a headlock, unable to breathe, before the stabbing.
Despite the argument, the Supreme Court Jury found Mr Robbins guilty of his brother’s murder.
In sentencing, the Chief Justice told Bernard what he did that night had appalling consequences, handing him a life sentence.
Outside court, defence lawyer Andrew Bale said Mr Robbins “wanted it known that he had no intention of this happening”.
“You don’t ask your brother to fly from the other side of the country to enjoy your wedding with that intention. But when things get out of hand sometimes there are terrible consequences,” Mr Bale said.
