A man stopped a rampaging motorist in a busy city square by deploying a powerful flying dropkick through the car window.

Terror broke out in Skënderbej Square in Albania’s capital Tirana yesterday when a car smashed into three other vehicles before crashing through protective barriers.

Footage from the scene shows a white vehicle with heavily dented bodywork stopped on the square.

It suddenly starts reversing, causing a man hanging out the passenger side door to cling on to the vehicle in a bid to stop it.

The car reverses backwards at speed, snaking its way around perilously close to pedestrians.

Members of the public rush over to the car and desperately try to stop it by grabbing on to its window and door frames.

They are unable to hold on to the powerful motor however, which manages to get away from the pack.

Suddenly a man comes into shot at full speed and launches himself up and into the car feet first.

The WWE-esque physical feat seems to stop the driver in their tracks.

The heroic kicker, who has been identified as Klodian Elqeni, keeps thrashing his feet half inside the car until other people can join him to secure the vehicle.

According to A2 news the motorist attempted to drive into a vaccination centre.

Mr Elqeni told ABC News Albania: “I was pushed by the lives of innocent people, no one deserves to die in Skanderbeg Square for no reason.

“I fell with both feet on his face and he lay down then they caught him.”

Police have identified the perpetrator as a 32-year-old, with the initials AM, who is suspected to have been under the influence.

Police said cannabis was found on his person when he was searched.

“Initially, it collided with three vehicles in different places, causing material damage and then broke the protective barriers and entered” Skënderbej “square, seriously endangering the citizens”, a police spokesperson said.
