Mum and daughter, 9, on family waterfall trip swept to their deaths by raging waters – World News

These are the tragic last moments of a mother and daughter, pictured enjoying a day out at a waterfall shortly before they were swept to their deaths.

Andrea Michalski, 46, Ana Sophia Michalski, 9, and Andrea’s brother-in-law Cid de Padua, 44, were all killed when they were caught in fast-moving waters.

The family had been on a trip with four other relatives. to the Cachoeira do Riva (Riva Waterfall) in Brazil on April 21 when tragedy struck.

While the four survivors had managed to cross the water, the three victims were caught by surprise and dragged around half a mile by the fast-moving water.

There had been a huge increase in water levels in the area due to rainstorms in the days leading up to their deaths, which had also caused a nearby river to flood.

An unnamed relative told the Band B site : “Three sisters, the husband of one of them and three more children went to the waterfall to spend the day.

“Two women managed to cross with the boys, but when Andrea went to try, the head of the water came and pinned her to the stone.”

Firefighters were later able to recover the bodies from further down the river.

Friends of the family expressed their shock at such a huge loss on social media, Band B added.

“I would like someone to let me know that it is a mistake, that I confused or had a nightmare,” one wrote. “I was paralysed to learn that this girl with the contagious smile, the sweet words, the great fans, the walks, runs and my friend, is gone… In an unbelievable way.”
