Five persons were arrested by the Patna police on Wednesday for their involvement in the murder of 72-year-old septuagenarian, officials said.
The old woman was found murdered while her grandson was injured inside their home in Patna’s Paigambarpur village.
The deceased, a widow, was found murdered while her grandson lying in a pool of blood on the ground floor of the house in the last week of April.
A SIT was constituted to investigate the case.

Police said Jaymanti’s minor granddaughter, who along with her father had planned the murder of her brother, grandmother and hired four persons to execute the killings.
“During the investigations, it was found that the deceased and her grandson used to look after the financial aspects of the home. The minor wanted to take control of the finances from his grandmother and brother. So, she hired killers for killing his brother. But the woman raised an alarm on hearing her grandson’s cries for help. The accused then overpowered her and strangulate to death before fleeing,” said the police official.
According to the official, the minor, two contract killers and middlemen have been arrested in the case.
“It was a well-planned conspiracy. There was no forced entry and no sign of robbery. So, police suspected the hand of an insider in the crime. The minor has confessed to her crime,” added the official.
