43,071 fresh Covid cases and 955 deaths in India in 24 hours; recovery rate rises to 97.09% | India News

NEW DELHI: As many as 43,071 new cases of Covid-19 and 955 deaths were registered in India in the last 24 hours, a health bulletin released by the Union health ministry on Sunday stated.

India’s virus case tally has been pushed to 3,05,45,433, while the death toll stands at 4,02,005 at present.

With 52,299 more patients having been recovered over the last 24 hours, the number of active cases in the country has declined to 4,85,350. Active cases at present constitute 1.59% of total number of cases in India.

The recovery rate has increased to 97.09 per cent from 97.06 per cent the previous day, the bulletin also showed. Daily recoveries continued to outnumber the number of daily new cases for the 52nd day in a row, according to the government. A total of 2,96,58,078 patients have recovered from the disease so far, the bulletin stated.
At 2.44%, the weekly positivity rate has remained below 5%. The daily positivity rate, at 2.34%, was less than 5% for the 27th consecutive day.

The health ministry on Sunday also said that testing capacity in the country has been substantially ramped up, and a total of 41.82 crore tests have been conducted so far.
India’s cumulative vaccination coverage crossed 35 crore mark, the government said, adding that a total of 35,12,21,306 vaccine doses have been administered through 46,04,925 sessions, as per a provisional report till 7am on Sunday. As many as 63,87,849 vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours, it also said.
