In a tragic incident, a 32-year-old woman died by suicide after jumping from the roof of a 6-storey building in Noida’s Sector-73 East Avenue Society. According to reports, the woman was battling depression and undergoing treatment. A shocking video of the incident has surfaced online, showing the woman at the parapet wall and jumping off.
Police reached the spot after being informed about the incident. The exact reason that triggered the woman’s extreme step remains unclear.
The incident occurred in Sector-73’s East Avenue Society, under the jurisdiction of Sector-113 police station. Around 9 a.m. on Friday, the 32-year-old woman jumped from the sixth floor of the building. Nearby residents, who saw the woman sitting on the edge of the wall, tried to persuade her to step back by shouting, but she jumped despite their pleas.
Residents captured the incident on their mobile phones, and the video is now viral on social media. According to the police, the woman, identified as Pooja, a resident of Sarfabad village, lived with her husband in the society. Her husband works as a software engineer in a private company, while she was a homemaker. The couple had been married for about two and a half years.
At the time of the incident, no one else was present at home. It is believed that the woman, distressed over an unknown issue, went to the roof of the building, climbed the wall, and jumped. In the viral video, a man is seen shouting for another named Dev to intervene and save the woman, but she did not respond and jumped within seconds.
Police stated that all relevant facts are being gathered through conversations with family members. The woman’s body has been sent for post-mortem. Sector-113 police station officials confirmed the incident and said they received information about the woman’s death from a fall. After inspecting the site, they registered the case and conducted initial investigations.
The body was taken for legal formalities, and further investigations are underway to uncover the exact cause of the incident.
