3 held in Pune after defence authorities find 2 dummy candidates during BRO recruitment exam

The Pune police arrested three persons and launched a hunt for the fourth accused after the defence authorities detected two cases of dummy candidates during a recruitment exam at the Border Road Organization (BRO) School and Centre in Pune Tuesday.

This is the second such case of dummy candidates appearing for the recruitment at the BRO School and Centre since March this year. A First Information Report in the latest case has been registered by an administration officer at the BRO School and Centre.

The police said that on Tuesday morning, a written examination was conducted for the post of ‘Multi Skilled Worker and Driller’. A police officer said, “The authorities supervising the exam process at the BRO School and Centre conducted verification of all the candidates appearing for the examination which included scrutiny of their exam entry cards, photo proofs and the candidates themselves. The authorities found that two persons were appearing as dummy candidates in place of two others who had actually enrolled for the exam. The officials informed the police and we launched a probe.”

The initial probe suggests that Paramjit Vijaypal Singh (32) was appearing for Rampati Vishwambhar Dayal (23) and Sonu Suresh (22) was appearing for Aman Suresh (19). The police have arrested Singh, Dayal and Sonu Suresh and have launched a search for Aman Suresh. The police said that Singh and Dayal are from Uttar Pradesh while Sonu and Aman hail from Haryana.

“We are investigating if there are any more accomplices and co-conspirators of these suspects and also probing their modus operandi,” said an officer from Vishrantwadi police station.

In the last week of March this year, the authorities at the BRO School and Centre had detected a dummy candidate appearing for an exam held for the recruitment of cooks. The police had arrested the original candidate and also the dummy candidate.
