NEW DELHI: Expressing dissatisfaction with PM Narendra Modi’s speech, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said it was clear that he was protecting the Adani Group as he did not answer the questions raised about the corporate house in the Lok Sabha.
Speaking to reporters after the PM’s response to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address, Rahul said Modi avoided all the questions that were asked by him. “I am not satisfied, but the speech revealed the truth. There was no talk of an inquiry. If he (Adani) is not a friend, then he (Modi) should have agreed to an inquiry. There was no probe into shell companies in defence sector, benami money is changing hands, but the PM did not say anything on that. It is a question of national security and concerns the country’s infrastructure… It is clear that the PM is protecting him (Adani),” he said.
“This is a very big scam. He (PM) did not even say that. He is surely trying to protect him (Adani). I understand this and there are reasons for it,” Rahul added. “The PM was shell-shocked. I have not asked any complicated question. I only asked how many times he (Adani) has gone with you. How many times did he meet you,” he said.
