At about 10.30am yesterday, a car was found fully underwater in Campbell’s River at the intersection of Sewells Creek Road and Lagoon Road at Charlton.

The body of a man was found inside.

It’s yet to be formally identified, but is believed to be that of the missing man.

Police have urged people to steer clear of floodwaters.

It comes as multiple states prepare for heavy rain and storms in coming days, with Victorians warned of a major flood emergency.

Up to 100mm of rain could fall in some areas north of the Great Dividing Range, and up to 50mm in Melbourne.

Wind gusts of 100km/hr are also forecast.

Some regional communities have been warned they could face up to 72 hours of isolation, with brim-full catchments ready to spill into floods.

Hundreds of calls for help as heavy rain moves through NSW

Emergency services have been put on alert, with 200 generators and seven helicopters on standby.

Premier Daniel Andrews has not ruled out calling in the ADF.

Rain is expected to start to fall tonight, and intensify through until Friday.

The weather bureau has also warned that 200mm of rain could also fall in Tasmania, with the worst-affected areas in the state’s north-west, around Devonport.
