As India and EU held their first strategic dialogue Tuesday, external affairs minister S Jaishankar and his counterpart Kaja Kallas reiterated their strong condemnation of the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, J&K, with the ministers sharing the view that every nation, including India, has the right and responsibility to protect its citizens from acts of terror.“While de-escalation efforts are ongoing, the High Representative (Kallas) encouraged continued bilateral engagement between India and Pakistan to support peace and stability in the region,” said EU. Jaishankar called on EU to view the conflict with Pakistan as India vs “Terroristan” as he highlighted India’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism, while also stressing that it’s essential not to yield to any nuclear blackmail. “Those responsible (for Pahalgam) must be held accountable,” said Kallas.
