Mumbai, November 7: The EdelGive-Hurun India Philanthropy List 2024, released on November 7, reveals a significant rise in charitable donations, with 203 philanthropists contributing Rs 8,783 crore, a 55% increase over the past two years. Shiv Nadar retains his title as India’s most generous philanthropist, donating Rs 2,153 crore in 2024, while Rohini Nilekani emerges as the top female donor with a contribution of Rs 154 crore.

According to the report, the bar for entering India’s top 10 philanthropists list has nearly doubled in the last five years, rising from INR 83 crore to INR 154 crore. Junaid noted that the list highlights a wide range of philanthropic efforts, with first-generation entrepreneurs like Shiv Nadar and Gautam Adani alongside long-established family businesses such as Ambani, Bajaj, and Birla.
