Kanpur, November 30: A shocking incident has come to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur, where a speeding car hit a woman while she returning from a wedding late at night. There are reports that the car driver was drunk at the time of the incident due to which he lost the control of his speeding car and hit the girl even when she was walking on the side of the road. The incident occurred in a narrow lane and the driver was speeding in the residential area. The horrific accident was caught on the CCTV camera installed in the area and the video of the incident is doing rounds on social media.
The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday (November 28) at around 11 PM in the night in Gangapur Colony in Kanpur and the video of the incident is going viral on social media. It can be seen in the video that a burqa-clad young woman is walking alone on the side of the road while speaking on her mobile phone. The woman was returning from a wedding when the incident occurred. The speeding car hit the girl from the front and dragged her after hitting her for some distance. The driver then stopped the car after going for some distance.
The woman suffered serious injuries in the accident and is receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. The driver was driving the car under the influence of alcohol. There are reports that he was heavily intoxicated. The locals caught the driver after the accident and called the police on 112. They kept the driver hostage for around 2 hours, however, the police did not arrive on the spot. The crowd then let the driver after warning him and taking his details.
The driver then ran over another person after being let go by the crowd. There are reports that he drove the car over the legs of the other person. It is being reported that no action has been taken against the accused even after two days of the incident.
The victim said in her statement on camera that her friends took to the hospital, she also claimed that the police did not take any action against the accused driver, despite they dialed 112 emergency service number. The crowd had detained the accused for over an hour, however, they had to release him as the police did not show up.
