Agartala, September 26: In an unfortunate incident in Tripura, a man was allegedly attacked by a wild bear. The victim, identified as Pramit Kumar Reang (34), is presently battling for his life in a hospital. The alleged incident occurred on Sunday, September 22, at around 5.30 PM when Pramit Kumar was attending to his Jhum field and later entered a nearby forest to gather bamboo shoots.
According to a report in The Times of India, Pramit Kumar Reang is a resident of Kanchanpur in Tripura’s North district bordering Mizoram. Speaking about the incident, Kumar’s family members said that the bear attacked Pramit and inflicted severe injuries. It is learned that Pramit Kumar suffered a severe injury on his face in which the bear allegedly ripped his flesh apart.
The incident came to light when Kumar’s family heard his cries for help. They immediately rushed to his aid and took him to Kanchanpur Hospital. After this, he was immediately transferred to Dharmanagar District Hospital in critical condition. Officials said that Kumar was the sole breadwinner of the family. The alleged bear attack has left the family in a state of emotional and financial turmoil.
It is also learned that Kumar’s wife and three children are dependent on his income which he earns from Jhum cultivation. Meanwhile, officials said that doctors at the hospital are providing intensive care to Kumar and are working to stabilise him despite the serious injuries. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, September 24, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said that the state government would set up another rubber park in Santirbazar under the South Tripura District. Saha said that the state now has a favourable environment for industrial development, and Tripura has become a significant destination for investors.
