‘Biggest-ever LAC deployment by India’: Jaishankar replies to Rahul Gandhi’s China barb | India News

NEW DELHI: External affairs minister S Jaishankar on Monday hit out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his barbs at China and said the Indian Army is not deployed on his order.
Jaishankar while speaking at a media conclave said this is the biggest-ever LAC deployment by India and done in order to counter Chinese deployments which were scaled up massively since 2020.
“The Army is deployed to counter any attempt to unilaterally alter the LAC, that is the commitment of the Indian Army. If we were in denial, then Army won’t be deployed there,” Jaishankar said.

Jaishankar said that Rahul Gandhi didn’t ask the Army to go to the LAC but it’s on our Prime Minister’s order.
Earlier, Rahul accused the government of playing down the threat from Beijing and said that China was preparing for war.

“The govt is sleeping. It does not want to listen to this fact or is unable to accept this. If you look at the weapons they are using, it becomes clear that they are preparing for a war,” Rahul said.
Indian and Chinese troops clashed in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh 10 days back, the first such encounter between the neighbours since the deadly Galwan valley incident in June 2020.
At least six Indian soldiers are believed to have sustained injuries and are being treated at the Army hospital in Guwahati.
The incident took place on December 9 after 300-400 soldiers from the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) intruded across the Line of Actual Control (LAC), which was “contested” by Indian soldiers deployed there “in a firm and resolute manner,” forcing the Chinese to retreat.
